In and around Saint Bérain

A small village in the Auvergne

The picturesque village of Saint Bérain is at 1,000 metres altitude in the HauteLoire. A haven of peace in the Massif Central, amidst a wild and rugged landscape of extinct volcanoes, rivers and gorges. The region possesses Romanesque churches which are among the most beautiful in France. The Gorges d'Allier is a deep valley with small villages. It is a quiet area where nature is all around you. 25 km away is the town of Le Puy en Velay, a rich historical stopping point on the Saint Jacques de Compostela route (UNESCO World Heritage). Certainly worth a visit.
